Terms of Service

Effective date: 9 July 2026

These terms govern your use of Friction ("the app"). By downloading, installing, or using Friction, you agree to these terms.

What Friction is

Friction is a problem validation tool designed for aspiring founders. It helps you capture problems you observe, answer structured validation questions, and receive a score indicating whether a problem is worth pursuing. The app is a thinking tool — it does not provide business advice, investment guidance, or guarantees about the viability of any idea or opportunity.

Subscriptions and pricing

Friction is available through auto-renewable subscriptions:

Both plans include a 7-day free trial. After the trial ends, your subscription will automatically renew and your Apple ID will be charged unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings: Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions, or via Apple's subscription management page.

Prices are in Australian dollars and may vary by region based on App Store pricing. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Any price changes will apply to the next renewal period, not your current active subscription.

Free trial

New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. If you cancel before the trial period ends, you will not be charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription will begin automatically at the applicable rate. Free trials are available once per Apple ID.

Your data

All content you create in Friction — problems, validation answers, scores, and notes — belongs to you. Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to, and cannot retrieve, your data. If you delete the app, your locally stored data will be removed. iCloud data is subject to your iCloud storage settings and Apple's policies.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Friction for its intended purpose as a personal problem validation tool. You may not:

Intellectual property

Friction, including its design, code, branding, and content, is the intellectual property of its creator. You retain full ownership of any content you create within the app. We claim no rights over your problems, notes, or validation data.

Disclaimer of warranties

Friction is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Validation scores and verdicts are tools for reflection — they are not professional advice and should not be treated as such.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of Friction shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Friction. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the app in the 12 months preceding any claim.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Friction if you violate these terms. You may stop using the app at any time and cancel your subscription through Apple's subscription management.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where the operator resides. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any consumer rights that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
