Privacy Policy

Friction ("we", "us", "the app") is an independently operated mobile application. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data Friction collects, how it's stored, and what we do with it — which is very little.

What data Friction collects

Friction is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. The app does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information to use it.

The data you create within Friction — your captured problems, validation answers, scores, and notes — is stored locally on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. We do not have access to this data. It lives entirely within your private iCloud container.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number through the app
• We do not track your location
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs
• We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties
• We do not serve advertisements

iCloud sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, Friction syncs your data across your Apple devices using your Apple ID. This sync is managed entirely by Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. We cannot see, access, or retrieve your synced data. For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and payments

Friction offers auto-renewable subscriptions at $7.99 AUD per month and $39.99 AUD per year, both with a 7-day free trial. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information — no credit card numbers, no billing addresses, no financial data of any kind.

Waitlist and beta testing

If you voluntarily submit your email address through our website waitlist or beta testing form (hosted by Tally), we collect your email address solely to notify you about app availability or invite you to beta test. We will not sell or share your email with any third party. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.

Speech-to-text

Friction includes an optional speech-to-text feature using Apple's native Speech framework. Audio is processed on-device or by Apple's speech recognition services depending on your device and settings. We do not store, transmit, or have access to any audio recordings.

Children's privacy

Friction is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
